Weekly Dev Log #9

Summary

This week we made a number of visual, tuning, and bug fixes based on what we saw from the Beta playtesting.

Updates

UI Assets - We've imported all of our UI assets including visuals for the Level Select screen

Character Select Scene - We've updated the character select scene to fully load all of the assets we wanted to include for our Beta build but couldn't import in time

Updated Sounds - We've made improvements to sound effects throughout the levels and UI and implemented emergency music (a music shift) that occurs when fires occur.

Tutorial Updates - Based on what we've seen for the Beta build playthroughs and other playtesting we've updated the tutorial sequencing and lighting to help players navigate the tutorial better. We've added spotlights on terminals in the ship when those terminals are important in the first part of the tutorial.

Updated UI Layout for clarity - We've made some small changes to help improve the clarity of our UI elements such as clarifying explicitly that the eyes closing due to players not on the brain mechanic is different from the blinking mechanic.

Eye Camera - We discovered that the new camera layout causes the dialogue and new task prompt to be more easily ignored which was unintentional. We moved the eye screen to be centered with the dialogue and new task prompt overlaying the eye camera. It still blocks less of the eye camera in this new layout compared to the old layout as the eye camera takes up more screen space in this new layout so this change does not clog the eye camera significantly.

Misc Bugs - We've fixed a lot of bugs that have come up recently as well as through previous playtests
